Little Cove Yoga Retreat

This is a review of my 3 night stay in Little Cove Yoga Retreat. Let me set the scene.

I had been informed that this place was hard to find and in the middle of nowhere, so Little Cove recommends their own taxi transfers. Two friends had visited before and the driver got so lost they had to get out and walk to find it! So, when my taxi left the main road for a long bumpy dirt track I tried not to be alarmed. This went on for about 5 minutes, deeper into the countryside with the roads growing narrower. I was a little edgy, but doing alright until we stopped in some sort of lay by and my driver said: "We walk from here".
“Uh, is it far?"
"No no, 5 minutes, the road is so bad" Oh. So this is how I die.

Call me jumpy, I like to be prepared for the worst. Then again, this is coming from someone who could overthink putting on a kettle.

He took my big rucksack which I thought was nice of him if he was going to kill me. I was still pretty on edge as we walked for 5 minutes, following this stranger down an isolated dirt road. Until we walked down some steps and a beautiful beach came into view. Phew. Though having spoken to other ladies we all went through a similar thought process!

I was taken to my little hut on the beach and another guest walked past me, smiled and said welcome to heaven. She wasn’t wrong. Staff are super friendly, fresh fruit is served throughout the morning and the beach is stunning.

The morning starts with a 2-hour meditation and yoga session. This felt a little long for me just because I don’t really practice yoga, but this was a really relaxed resort. If you didn’t fancy it or you have had enough then there was no obligation to attend sessions or stay throughout. It really was what you made of it. In the evening there is often another yoga session or meditation. There was the odd person doing their teacher training, so you really can do as much or as little yoga as you like. Sessions also catered for all abilities. Which was great seeing as apparently, I'm not that flexible.

Some people come to just lie in the sun and take advantage of the private beach, massages and all-inclusive food, which is amazing and all vegetarian! Brunch is served at around 11am and dinner around 7pm, and is pretty much all you can eat. There is WiFi, although no phone signal, which is nice right?!

It’s an alcohol and smoking-free resort, which is great if you are going to detox. If you do want a beer, as did a few people, there are bars on the next beach along. Yes, you can absorb the vibe, but escape if you do start to get cabin fever. The weather was perfect. You really can while away the hours here, walking the beach and watching the sunset.

I flew out from Goa airport at 4am. Gross right? But they thought nothing of giving me a hut to call my own after I checked out so I could shower/change/charge my phone. I spent my last few hours meditating on rocks overlooking the Arabian Ocean. I couldn't recommend the retreat further to be honest. I can safely say I left India feeling pretty blissful. I wonder once I hit the London Underground how long I can keep my zen? I'll keep you all updated.
